There has been a further allocation of funding for the CSGN Developmen Fund in 2016-17.
North Ayrshire Council has been awarded £39,250 to create a green corridor along the former Caledonian railway line between Saltcoats and Ardrossan, bringing the site into positive use for active travel biodiversity and recreation. The project includes upgrades of existing paths, the improvement of open space, installation of seating , signing and interpretation and tree and wildflower planting.
East Ayrshire Council has been awarded £25,312 to develop a proposal for a 23.5km circular route around Kilmarnock, which forms an integral part of the wider Kilmarnock Green Infrastructure Project. The route will provide improved cycling and walking choices connecting communities with places of interest and local facilities throughout the town, as well as the wider path network.
Mauchline Community Action Group has been awarded £25,000 to create a community garden in the centre of Mauchline. The garden will include various raised beds to accommodate all users including young children, elderly and disabled people. The site will also include container growing fruit trees, a rain water collection system, a BBQ/fire pit, seating and a covered area for socialising.
